Mrs. Buckland Taken By Death
HINTON, March 24 - Mrs. Bertha Mae Buckland, aged 61 years, of Powley's Creek, died in a Hinton Hospital at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening. In ill health for the past three years, she was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition Thursday.
Born April 9, 1884, the daughter of the late S. B. and Virginia Foster Allen, she had lived in the Powley's Creek section most of her life, and was well known.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 o'clock at the Powley's Creek Baptist church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Richard Lilly and the Rev. Claude R. Buckland in charge, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband Robert W. Buckland; four sons: Isaac Buckland, of Crab Orchard; Samuel Buckland, of Wiggins; Robert H. Buckland, of the U. S. Army in Japan; and Gordon Buckland, of Hinton; four daughters; Mrs. Ada Cox, Mrs. Lucy Ballengee, and Mrs. Marie Pack, all of Crab Orchard, and Mrs. Elsie Morgan, of Radford, Va., a sister, Mrs. Maude Mandeville, of Mt. Hope, and 19 grandchildren.
