Barbara Harris

Barbara Harris, 55, R. 15, Bedford, died Saturday at 10:50 a.m. at Dunn Memorial Hospital.
Born in Summers County, W.Va., she was the daughter of Oliver Howard and Lucy Lee (Buckland) Ballengee. She married Ralph "Smitty" Harris Jan. 20, 1953, and he survives.
She was retired from Hospitality House. She was of Baptist faith and attended the Friendly Bible Church where she was active in the womens' circles.
Surviving with the husband are two sons: Ralph Smith Harris, Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., and Chris S. Harris of Bedford; two daughters: Mrs. Frances A. Hillenburg and Mrs. Danny (Lucy Lee) Godsey, both of Bedford; three brothers: Edgar Ballengee, Jerry Ballengee and Richard Ballengee, all of Maryland; three sisters: Delores Defibaugh of Virginia, Linda Sulzer of Florida and Joanne Randall of Wisconsin; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma, and one grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Day & Carter Mortuary, Bedford with the Rev. Joe Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the service Thursday at the mortuary.
