Marshall, Niantic, Civil War Veteran, Dies Funeral Services to be Conducted Sunday in Illiopolis Funeral services for Charles W. Marshall, 92, Civil war veteran who died Friday afternoon in the home of his son. J. W. Marshall, Niantic, will be conducted in Illiopolis at 9 a. m. Sunday. The body will be taken to Indianapolis, Ind., for burial. Mr. Marshall was a member of the Dunham post, G. A. R., Decatur. He was born Feb. 23, 1845 in Griggsville, O. and later moved to Burns City, Ind. He enlisted for the Civil war in 1861 and served until 1864. He married Minerva Harris in Dover Hill, Ind., June 20, 1867. He leaves two daughters. Mrs. Anna Chiestain, Modesto, Calif., and Mrs. Pearl Osbourn, Odin, Ind., and three sons, John, Jacksonville, Douglas, Odin and Joseph W. with whom he lived. *** There is a tombstone for Charles in the Williams Cemetery, Burns City, Martin County, Indiana. But it is unknown if he is buried there due to no date of death. *** Died at the home of Joseph William Marshall.
