JENNIE HUCKLEBERRY Funeral services were held Tuesday morning for Mrs. Jennie Huckleberry, age 77 years, who passed away Sunday afternoon at her home on Chestnut street following a chronic affliction of the heart. Mrs. Huckleberry was a resident of this city for many years. She was a member of the Vernon Baptist church, also a member of the local order of Eastern Star Lodge. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs John Erle Davis of Louisville, and Miss. Bertha Huckleberry, who is a teacher in the local public school, three sons, Will of Washington, D.C., Silas and Warren of this city, two sisters, Miss Emma Williams and Mrs. Mary Gibson of Shelby, O., two brothers, Smith Williams of Bedford and Morton Williams of Louisville, and seven grand children. Services were held at the residence at 10:00 o'clock Tuesday morning conducted by the Rev. W. H. Dillard, pastor of the local Baptist church and interment in the Hill Crest cemetery. *** A Memorial to Jennie Huckleberry A beautiful and bright life has gone out from our midst and our neighbors and friends saddened by her transmission from earth to everlasting joy. Yet there is a sweet undertone of joy in the assurance that Jennie's sun has only gone down to rise upon a fairer shore. I sorrow because darkness has entered a happy home, a shadow has fallen on my heart. A hand who?s warm grasp I have felt is taken away, a voice to which I have listened is hushed and a chair vacant. In the passing of Jennie Huckleberry I have lost a loyal and true friend, her children a true and loving mother. Her many good deeds through and life was so beautiful exemplified. Deeply and sadly indeed I pay this passing tribute of respect and while mine is a loss of deepest moment irreparable the tenderest and sweetest emotion of all God's given virtues. Though saddened and bowed in grief I feel it a sacred duty and a solemn privilege to to join my grief and sympathy with the aggrieved family assuring them in these in their hours of darkness that my departed relative will have a place in my heart while memory last.
