Mrs. J.Carson Dies at Hospital
Mrs. Jennie E. Carson, 82, a lifelong resident of Jackson and Jennings counties, died shortly before noon today at Schneck Memorial Hospital where she had been admitted for treatment. She had been a semi-invalid for the past 20 years and had been bedfast for the past month at the home of her daughter, Miss Edwina Carson, auditor of The Seymour Daily Tribune, at 511 Indianapolis avenue.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o'clock Saturday morning from the Voss Mortuary with Dr. A. A. Cohn, pastor of the First Baptist Church, in charge. Burial in the Vernon, Ind. cemetery.
Friends may call at the Voss Mortuary after noon Friday.
Mrs. Carson was born March 11, 1866, in Jennings county, the daughter of the late William T. and Almira King Holsclaw. She was married on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1891 in Jennings county to Edwin Carson, who died April 28, 1944. They had moved to Jackson county 37 years ago to a farm south of Seymour and she had lived in Seymour for about the past 15 years.
Mrs. Carson was a member of the First Baptist Church and attended services regularly as long as her health permitted. She was an active member of the Sewing Society of that church. A host of friends who admired her Christian character and her sterling qualities mourn her death.
She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Hazel C. Berry, Mrs. Jeannette Linke and Miss Edwina Carson, all of Seymour, and Miss Ethel Carson, of Bloomington; four grandchildren; one brother, Harry Holsclaw, of Auburn, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. O. E. Beeman, North Vernon, and Mrs. H. A. Searles, of Spokane, Wash. An infant daughter, Elizabeth, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
