Edwin Carson, Retired Farmer, Expires Here
Edwin Carson, age seventy-six, widely known retired farmer, died this morning at his home, 311 South Broadway. Although he had been in failing health during the past few days, his death was unexpected and came as shock to his many friends.
Mr. Carson, father of Miss Edwina Carson, bookkeeper at The Daily Tribune, was a native of Warren county, Ohio. He was born on July 30, 1867, the son of George and Martha Jane Ferris Carson, both deceased.
On November 26, 1891, he was married in Jennings county to Jennie E. Holsclaw, who survives. Thirty-six years ago, he moved to Jackson county where he was engaged in farming for a number of years. Mr. Carson retired from active farming several years ago. He enjoyed the acquaintance and esteem of a host of friends in Jackson and surrounding counties.
Besides the widow, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Berry, of Seymour. Mrs. Jeannette Linke, residing in Jackson county northeast of this city, Miss Ethel Carson, of Bloomington and Miss Edwina Carson, of this city. An infant daughter, Elizabeth, preceded him in death. A brother, Marion Carson, of North Vernon, and four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
