J. W. Alley, 63, Dies In Hospital
John William Alley, 63, of Mabscott, died in a local hospital at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Born Dec. 18, 1888, he was the son of James Henry Alley, deceased and Sarah Pina Tincher Alley.
A resident of Raleigh County for the past 22 years, he was a member of the United Mine Workers of American, District 29.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Mrs. Tresa Dixie Alley; four sons, Roy Lee, at home; Arthur John, MacArthur; Frank, Mabscott; and George, Skelton; two daughters, Mrs. William Shucks and Mrs. Cecil Thompson, both of Glenview; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Smith, Mabscott, and Mrs. Eunice Cox, Oak Hill; one brother, Frank Alley, Rainelle, and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Mabscott Baptist Church by the Rev. James Neal and the Rev. Carden A. Hillman. Burial will be in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.
The body will be removed from the Calfee Funeral Home to the residencew of William Pennington, Mabscott, at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be George Dale, George Davix, Frank Newbert, Abe Mays, W. K. Thompson, and Sid Toney.
