Family listed as Cagots from Harriette/Harrieta on website: http://cgpa64.free.fr/cagots/10/1007.HTM. Cagots were a deeply despised group of people that others openly discriminated against until the laws against Cagots were officially abolished during the French Revolution from 1789 to 1799. Some believe Cagots were direct descendents of the Visigoths (eastern Germanic tribe) while others contend they descended from Saracens (northern Africa and western Sinai Penninsula). Cagots were reportedly distinguishable by their fair complexions, light hair, and blue eyes and often worked as carpenters.
