He worked for 43 years at Yuba Heat in Tulsa, OK before retiring in July 1996.
He remembers his uncles Joe, Frank, and Tom and looking into his father's coffin, among other things. He remembers being at the log cabin his uncle Joe and Frank lived in on Turkey Creek in Osage Co., OK and being so small he had to crawl over the bottom log in the doorway.
He was diagnosed with basal-cell carcinoma on his right cheek in July 2003 which was removed.
One of the "ditties" he remembers as a boy: meinen frau, deinen frau, sinkt sie sucht sie heissen meiner kot, und deiner kot, der oder halb zu sheissen!
He died in his son Steve's house east of Catoosa in Wagoner County in the morning while getting dressed. His funeral was held at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. He had his Last Rites read from a Catholic priest at the graveside service. His coffin was closed for the last time at 4:13 pm and he was lowered into the ground.
