David Mark Etzel, age 53, of Saugus, died Friday afternoon in his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Cambridge, David was the son of Catherine (Gumb) Etzel of Lynn and the late Rev. Robert W. Etzel, Sr. He previously resided in Amesbury, Lynnfield, and Palmer before moving to Saugus 15 years ago, where he resided at the Bridgewell House.
David's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and friends at Bridgewell, the State of Massachusetts, the VNA Hospice Care and the many others who cared for David over the past years.
In addition to his mother, David leaves two brothers, Robert W. Etzel, Jr. of Lynnfield and Turner, ME and Bruce W. Etzel and his wife Brenda of Danvers and one sister, Deborah Gray of Turner, ME. He was the Uncle of Jason and Jonathan Gray of Turner, ME and Timothy and Cait Etzel of Danvers. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Service Information: David's Funeral Service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield will be private. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in David's memory may be sent to Bridgewell, 471 Broadway, Lynnfield, MA 01940. Note: David's funeral was conducted by the Reverand Evan Mwangi, an Epsicopal Priest and David's Pastor and friend. 2 solo's were sung; "The Lord's Prayer" and "On Eagles Wings." The hyms were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Readings were done by Jonathan Gray, Tim Etzel, and Debbie Gray.
