  1870 census, Joseph is living with his mother, Isabella Evans.. He is not married.
 1880 Census, he is living with his mother in law, Sarah Martin.
 1900 Census finds Joseph Lovejoy as a single person living with the William Parker family as a boarder. He was a Railroad Laborer.
  The obituary for Joseph Lovejoy reads:
  Joseph Lovejoy, for several years past a citizen of Washington, died yesterday of apoplexy, aged 69 years. The following children survive: Arthur and Sheldon of Washington; John, of Rochester, PA, William, of Avella, Mrs. Sadie Burt, of Columbus, O,; Mrs Elizabeth Black, Blanchester, O. and Mrs. Nora Baldwin, of St. Louis, MO. The funeral services will be held at the home of Arthur Lovejoy, Sycamore street, Tylerdale, this afternoon at 2:20 o'clock, and, interment will be in the Washington cemetery.
