Note: e step-son of Elias Phillips. Since Elias and Thursa appear not to have had children together, I have seen fit to include him in the Phillips family tree. His full name, death date, and particular information on his wife and children come from the "Eldrege Genealogy", The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol. LI (Boston, 1897), pp. 52-53. His youngest two daughters were said to have been born in Holly, New York. I have not located this place, but it was probably near Rochester. His widow "Betsey" and children were enumerated in the 1850 Cenus in Buffalo, New York. She is probably the "Bertha" living with this family in Cleveland, Ohio in 1860, and "Barbara" in 1870. 1850 US Census (Roll M431_501, p. 167, image 336) 2nd Ward, Buffalo, Earie Co., NY Betsey Mathews, 41, b.
