Note: His birthdate is alternately claimed to be 21 October 1727. **** John Phillips died in the late spring of 1756, aged 34, unmarried and without issue. Letters of Administration were granted to his eldest brother, Jonathan Phillips, 8 June 1756. The probate record names his brothers and sisters as heirs. See District of Plainfield, Connecticut, Register of Probate Records, Vol. 4, pp. 58, 81, 87, 89 and 99. **** Not to be confused, another John Phillips died about the same time. The other John Phillips was "formerly of Plainfield, late of Coventry, Rhode Island, and apparently had two sons, William and Benjamin. See District of Plainfield, Connecticut, Register of Probate Records, Vol. 4, pp. 104 and 203.
