Continued: John Pickles and Ann "Nancy" Laycock were married on 6 May 1782 in Saint Peter, Leeds, Yorkshire, England. Two original records of their marriage were located: The parish register for St. Peter in Leeds, Yorkshire, under 14 April 1782, shows Marriage Banns were published for John Pickles of Kieghley Parish and Ann Laycock of this town [Leeds]. Marriage No. 123 shows: John Pickles, of the Parish of Keighley, Butcher, and Ann Laycock of this [Leeds] Parish, spinster, were married in this church by Banns, this sixth Day of May in the Year One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Two by me, Jos. Swain Cl. This Marriage was solemnized between Us, John Pickles [&] Ann Pickles [signed] In the Presence of Ruth Midgley [&] Wm. Laycock. Family stories corroborate that John Pickles was a butcher by profession. Ann and Kitty Frick were confused whether his name was John or William. It was John. A John Pickles, son of Nathan, was baptized at Bingley, Yorkshire, on 25 January 1765 (FHL Film 919129). Bingley is very near Keighley, west of Leeds.
