a. Note:   aret (McRae) McRae, who (along with a total of twelve families named McRae) took passage on the Eliza in 1815. However, Margaret (McRae) McRae was 39 in 1815, perhaps too young to have had a daughter who was in her mid 20s.
  Based on the circumstantial evidence, I believe that it is more likley that Rachel was a daughter of Alexander McRae (b. abt. 1747) of Glenelg, Co. Inverness, Scotland, who married Catherine MacIntosh and also took passage on the Eliza in 1815 with three sons in their company (one of whom, Archibald McRae, married Catherine McCrimmon in 1818 in Ontario, Canada--Catherine was Fauquhar's sister; hence, a McCrimmon brother-sister could have married a McRae sister-brother).
  A third possibility: Rachel might have been the daughter of Roderick and Marion (Muchinson) McRae, who also emigrated from Glenelg to Ontario, Canada on the ship Eliza in 1815 (family #91). Roderick and his family later lived on Fraser Ridge Rd, in West Hawkesbury Twp. Prescott Co., Ontario, "conc. from John McCrimmon." The fact that he apparently purchased land from or lived on land owned by John McCrimmon suggests there may have been a familial connection here as well.
  According to Transcriptions from McLaughlin Cemetery by Jeannette Logan and Margaret Patenaude (Ottawa Branch of OGS, 2007), Rachel was aged 73 years when she died 15 May 1868. The passenger list of the ship Eliza in 1815, shows she was 23. The 1850 affidavit states that she was 21 at the time. The latter two suggest she was born either in 1792 or 1794. The Cemetery record indicates she was born between March 1793 and March 1794. She was probably born in 1793.
