Note: Kentucky's Soldiers of the War of 1812 On the Roll of Field and Staff, Keir's Infantry, Dudley's Reigment SKINNER, Clark - date of Muster - 11 March 1813 -end of Enlistment- 11 Sept 1813 Land Patent extracted by Nick Sheedy: Clark Skinner patented Land at Frankin, Missouri in 1828: Certificate No. 2800. Clark Skinner "of Chariton County". Dated 1 May 1828. Signed by John Quincy Adams. 80 acres. Land situated: N 1/2 of SW 1/4 of Section 2, Twp. 52, Range 14 in the district of lands offered for sale at Franklin, MO Clark Skinner died 1 Feb. 1858 and his will was proved 20 Feb. 1858 in Randolph Co., Missouri, naming heirs. "Randolph County, Missouri Administration and Will Records, 1836 - 1858" shows heirs of Clark Skinner, Sr.: Sallie McDaniel, William A. Skinner, and B. M. Skinner of Randolph County, Missouri, S. T. Skinner of "Shariton" County, Missouri, the three children of David Skinner of Louisiana, the seven children of John Skinner of Macon County, Missouri, and the six children of Elizabeth Maggard, deceased. ____ NOTE: Clark Skinner (1779-1858) and family apparently lived in Rockcastle Co. and Estill Co., KY before moving to Randolph Co., MO prior to 1832 --this from a chart filed in 1961 by Mrs. Robert Potts with the Genealogy Forum of Portland, Ore. NOTE: Clark Skinner, Sr. and Clark Skinner, Jr. are listed in the 1825 tax list for Estill Co., KY. NOTE: Several sources give Clark Skinner's death place as Kentucky. While that is possible, it seems more likely that he died in Missouri. It is sometimes claimed (erroneously) that he died in 1855, but most sources state he died in 1858, which is when his will was recorded.
