Notes
a. Note:   .
Henry Rowe died 2 September 1908 and Jane survived him for five years. After his death, she made an application for a pension as a widow of a a Civil War veteran; the application was dated 26 October 1908. They granted a pension of $36 a month. As a widow, she needed to provide proof that she had been married to Henry Rowe; she filled out a "Secondary Proof of Marriage", but she was evidently reluctant to state that his name had been "George Green" in England and wrote his name "Henry Rowe" on the application. All other facts she gives are accurate, including her maiden name, marriage date, the wedding location in Chatteris, the name of the Rev. Gathercole, named and birth dates of children, etc. She states that she was unable to procure a copy of the record of the marriage "because The Clergyman who performed the Ceremony is dead and the witnesses present at the ceremony are all dead and that I have been unable to get a copy from the parish in England where ceremony was performed. Wether or not she made an attempt to procure the record of the marriage from Chatteris, we do not know. If she had, it would not have shown her married to Henry Rowe, but rather to George Green, albeit he was the same man. Perhaps she thought it would have been more difficult to explain the name change.
Jane's Civil War widow pension application confirms, without doubt, that Henry Rowe was George Green, and that the connection of this couple to their origin in England is correct.
  ***
Jane Rowe, age 66, born in England, appears in the U.S. Federal Census of 1910, enumerated with "Martha J. Lintern", living in Saginaw, Saginaw Co., Michigan.
  ***
Jane (James Wheaton) Green/Rowe died 9 November 1913, aged 84 years, four months, 18 days.
Her death certificate offers her birth date, death date, date and place of burial and the name of her father, "Phillips Wheaton". Her occupation was given as "housewife". The informant was her daughter, Mrs. George McEwen.
Note:   In 1841 she was living at Slade End, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, England
