Note: Accounts from Barren Co., KY: "Henry Myers put up a mill below the Duff lands but on the south side of the creek. It was a very crude affair at the start. The dam was principally of brush. Henry ran it a while and sold it to his brother Michael, who put a good dam across the creek, good as could be made in his day and time. ... The Myers family were good mill men. DEED This indenture made and entered into this sixth day of October 1828 between Henry Myers and Katharine his wife of Barren County and State of Kentucky of the one part and John Jones of the same county and state of the other part witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said Henry Myers hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said John Jones three several tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the county of Barren on Beaver Creek the 1st containing 45 acres or thereabouts being part of a 115 acres conveyed by Richard Garnett as a commission appointed by the Court, to the said Henry Myers and bounded as follows, Beginning at a sycamore and ash the original corner of said survey, on the north bank of the creek, running thence north 63 west 114 poles to the Lexington road, thence with the meanders of said road south 24 west 14 poles, south 14 west 30 poles, south 22 west 36 poles, south 33 west 18 poles to a large white oak at the corner of Henry Waggoner's fence, thence north 75 east 130 poles to the beginning. Also one other or the second tract containing 16 acres deeded as aforesaid lying on the north side of the creek opposite the mills and including the abutment of the mill dam, and bounded as follows, Beginning at a black oak and post oak, running thence south 44 poles to two sycamores on the south bank of the creek above the mills, thence north 66 west 64 poles to a stake below the mills, thence north 19 west 68 poles to a buckeye stump, thence south 57 east 75 poles to the beginning. Also one other or third tract containing one acre on the south side of the creek including the buildings &c deeded as aforesaid and bounded as follows, Beginning at a beech on the bank of the creek below the mills, thence up the creek south 80 east 16 poles to a buckey[e], thence south 14 west 10 poles to a sugartree, thence north 80 west 16 poles to a beech, thence 10 poles to the beginning being the one acre which was condemned for the purpose of building the mill, to have and to hold the said several tracts of land be the same more or less, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said John Jones & his heirs forever, and the said Henry Myers doth covenant and agree to and with the said John Jones than he will forever warrant and defend the title to the said 45 acres and said 16 acres against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever and the said Henry Myers doth further defend the title to said tract of one acre free from the claim or claims of William Renick and the heirs of Samuel Renick deceased, and all persons claiming by through or under them but against the claim of no other person. In testimony whereof the said Henry Myers and Catharine his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year above written. Henry Miers Katherine x Miers Barren County (to wit) I Logan Tunstall Deputy Clerk for William Logan, Clerk of the County Court for the county aforesaid, do certify that the foregoing deed of conveyance from Henry Myers and Catharine his wife to John Jones was acknowledged by the said Henry Myers & wife to be their act and deed, she the said Catharine Myers being examined by me separate and appart from her said husband declared that she freely and voluntarily delivered the said writing (then shewn and explained to her) to be her act and deed, that she thereby intended to release unto the said Jones all her right & interest in the land thereby conveyed, and designs not to retract her acknowledgement whereupon the aforesaid deed and this certificate hath been duly admited to record in my office this 8th day of October 1828. Myers and Margaret (Maggard) his wife, Jacob Maggard and Elizabeth (Myers) his wife, all of Scotland County; Henry A. Myers and Louisa his wife, John J. Myers and Edna (Maggard) his wife of Union Co., Oregon, and others, sold the NW quarter of section 15, township 64 N 12 W. in Scotland County. This land was originally patented by Henry Miers, July 10, 1844. These would appear to be his heirs.
