a. Note:   OBITUARY From the "Times Republican, Marshalltown" (November 24, 1930): "Word received by A.H. Whealen, near Marietta, tells of the death Saturday noon at Long
Beach, Calif., of his sister, Mrs. Jennie Boggie, a native of Marshall county and a resident of the Marietta neighborhood and of this city until a year ago. Heart trouble was the cause of death, which is believed to have come rather unexpectedly as relatives did not know that she was in poor health.
Mrs. Boggie was born Jennie Whealen, daughter of Jeremiah and Sarah A. Whealen, in
Marietta township, on the farm now occupied by Will Graff, Feb. 28, 1868. Shortly after her
birth the family moved to a farm a mile south, where A.H. Whealen now makes his home, and
where Mrs. Boggie lived until her marriage to George Boggie, in 1907. Mr. and Mrs. Boggie
were married in Des Moines and they came to this city to make their home. Mr. Boggie died here in 1912 and Mrs. Boggie continued to make Marshalltown her home until a year ago, when she went to California.
"Mrs. Boggie is survived by three brothers, Charles Whealen, Fresno, Calif.; T.F. Whealen,
Parsons, Kan., and A.H. Whealen, Marietta, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Johnson, St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Boggie was a member of Central chapter, O.E.S., and Madon Shrine, of this city.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Long Beach. The body will be shipped to this city and on arrival services will be held from the Pursel-Davis funeral home and burial will be in Riverside."
