Continued: Obituary: Beverly Ann Suksdorf Eddy,88, died Feb. 8 at her John Day home. At her request, her ashes will be joined with her husband’s at a private celebration of life in the spring. Eddy was born Nov. 15, 1927,in Spokane, Wash., to Carl R. Suksdorf and Freida S. Phillips Suksdorf. She spent much of her childhood at the family ranch in Northport, Wash., and at mining camps in California and Oregon. Her mother and stepfather, Freida and Ernest Organ, moved to John Day in the 1940s. She graduated from Grant Union High School in 1945. She was the first of four generations who graduated from or are currently enrolled in the Grant Union School District. She attended Oregon State College. On Sept. 14, 1947, she married her high-school sweetheart, Glenn Eddy Jr. They raised their two children in John Day. She was a homemaker and an integral part of the Rock Garden Nursery in the 1980s and 1990s. She was a passionate seamstress and quilter to the end of her life. Survivors include her daughter, Nanette Walker of John Day; son, Greg (Deb) Eddy of John Day; grandchildren, Dusti (Carlos) Walker-Cascante of Federal Way, Wash., Kevin Eddy of Eugene, Tonya (Doug) Cates of John Day; Brandon (Megan) Eddy of Brownsville and Ben (Katie) Dieker of Salem; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Logan Cates; nieces, Karen (Tim) Bailey, Kristine (Christopher) Labhart and Allison (Joe) Zibulewsky; and nephew, Jim (Pat) Anderson. Another great-grandchild is due in March. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Eddy Jr., in 2006. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Home Health and Hospice, 422 W. Main.
