A man jumped on his back at the hospital and his heart stopped." **** Residence: 1900: San Francisco, Calif. **** Will of Edward Grogan: "I Edward Grogan - Believing my Life to be uncertain through Aneurism of the Artery leading from the heart as instructed By Dr. Wilkins, Dozier & Hateh [sic] at an examination on the 13 day of March 1881 do return thanks to them each for their kindness to me. I desire that the property owned by me on Campbell St. Oakland be sold by my wife Ella Grogan where in her judgement a fair price can be obtained. I also desire that my wife Ella receives from the Widow & Orphans Fund of the Ancient Order of United Workmen's of which I am a member. Also of the Widows and Orpahns Fund of the Knights of Honor of which I am a member the sum of Two Thousand Dollars each, which sum she is entitled to as per instructions also any money or effects which I may be possessed of at my death. Her good judgement will enable her to put them to the best use. I have implicit confidence in Her ability to manage for my children and herself. "Signed, Edward Grogan "March 15th 1881" Knights of Honor, Resolution of Respect: "Wheream it has pleased the Supreme Dictator of the universe to remove from our midst our esteemed brother, Edward Grogan, and wheream it is but justand proper that the lodge should make some recognition of his many virtues. Therefore be it rested , That in the death of brother Grogan this Lodge has lost a true and worthy Knight, and one who was always ready to extend a hand of sympathy, and to aid and assist those in distress. Resolved, That this Lodge extend to the family of our deseased brother its most heartfelt sympathy in this their greatest affliction. Resolved, That these resolutions be spread upon our minutes, and a copy sent to the family of our deseased brother, and the Knights of Honor journal for publication. Fraternally in O. M. A.
