Note: 1880 US Census (Roll 569, p. 297) Allegan, Allegan Co., MI Lucian B. Phillips, 42, canvaser of newspapers, b. MI, father & mother both b. NY Amanda S., 37, wife, keeping house, b. MI, father & mother both b. NY Eveline, 4, daughter, b. MI, father b. MI, mother b. MI Wm. Jeffs, 12, step-son, at school, b. MI, father b. England, mother b. NY His wife's name "Amanda" on the 1880 census might easily have been taken from Miranda. However, there is a bit of confusion. Lucian's daughter, Kitty M. Phillips was born in 1865. He also had a step-son, by wife "Amanda" who was born abt. 1868. For this to make sense, he must have married twice, the second time between 1868 and 1876, as he had a daughter named Evelyn b. 1876.
