Notes
a. Note:   119.47 from the estate of Elihu L. Phillips (1800-1884). This indicates that B. W. Phillips was a nephew of Elihu L. Phillips (see notes under the latter).
His birthday is sometimes given at 16th August, but it is written (in his mother's hand) 6th August 1815--crossed out, then written 1813--in the family Bible. "Permilla Ann Hilton, Cook --was Boyd W. Phillips' 2nd wife, and Mrs. Katy Sherwood was his 3rd wife. --Ezra O. Phillips" (from old Phillips family Bible in posession of Nick Sheedy).
Allegan Co., Michigan marriage records show that Boyd W. Walker and Permelia Ann Cook were married 22 June 1859. It appears that they divorced someitime between 1870 and 1880, as she remarried in 1881, and he also was married a third time.
The List of Post Offices in the United States with the Names of Postmasters, on the 1st of July, 1855, shows that Boyd W. Phillips was the postmaster for Pine Plains, Allegan Co., Michigan.
Boyd W. Phillips was also the Postmaster at Saugatuck, Michigan in 1865.
"BOYD W. PHILLIPS. Boyd W. Phillips died in Allegan, March 8, 1892. Born at Manlius, Onondaga county, N. Y., August 16 [sic],1813; came to Michigan in 1836 then a territory settling in Cass county. In December, 1853, he came to Allegan and soon after moved into the old Pine Plains house, which he kept many years, and afterwards, for a short time, kept hotel at Saugatuck. He was three times married: first, in Lockport, N. Y., to Miss Harriet A. Barton, who died in Cass county, in 1846; second, in Pine Plains, to Mrs. Pamelia Cook; and third, at Saugatuck, to Mrs. Kate Sherwood, who, with two sons and a daughter, survive him. Mr. Phillips was religiously a Universalist. He was well known by all the early settlers in western Allegan county. His age was seventy-eight years, seven months and twelve days."

One of the males 20-30 could have been Boyd's brother, Elihu L. Phillips. The female aged 40-50 was probably his mother, Tamar (Walker) Phillips.)
