Notes
a. Note:   is claimed birth date in 1688 would push the envelope, if his mother was born in 1672. It would have been highly unusual for a girl to marry at age 15. They were probably married about 1690, and Michael (b. 1691) was probably the eldest soon. I suspect that either John B. was not their child, or his birth date was later. I wonder where the middle name comes from, and if there is a record that it was used during his life.
Coincidentally, another man, Jacob Phillips married Sally Ballou in the 1790s in Foster, RI. The later lived in Cornish, Cheshire Co, New Hampshire. See: - see "Gallous in America" and the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research Magazine, Vol. 33, No. 2, Winter 1969.
Note:   It is unclear to me if John Ballou Phillips was a son of this couple. H
