a. Note:   ived one mile west of Aldie, Loudoun Co., VA; this is about two miles from Oak Hill, the home of President Monroe. From the door of the Gulick home, they watched the light on the horizon when the British burned Washington, D.C. in August 1812. George left 453 acres to his son, Sanford, when he died. Most of their descendants were farmers.
