Note: DURHAM HONOR ROLL, VOL II - Military Service from 1946-2009, compiled by Adriana Farley, page 125: George Hackett -- U.S. Army, 1965 - 1968: George Hackett reported to Fort Ord, CA on November 15, 1965, when he began his basic training with the U.S. Army. He was sent to Fort Sill, OK, Fort Lee, VA and Fort Benning, GA for further training, and attained the rank of Specialist-4 with a Military Occupational Specialty of Parachute Rigger. He served at Fort Campbell, KY and in South Vietnam with his separation from active duty occurring on August 10, 1968. He was a member of the Durham High School class of 1966, although he did not graduate with his class, choosing instead to go into the service. Married to Debra McGaughey since January 27, 1979, he is the father of April and Jesse, and has been employed as a carpenter in his private life. On June 24, 1980, George & Adele deeded to their sons, George C. Hackett, III and Randy Allen Hackett an undivided one fifth interest in and to the following described property: The Southeast quarter (SE1/4) of Section Four (4), Township 25 North, Range 4 East, M.D.B&M. This is the mountain property between Inskip and Butte Meadows. (1984) Chico Enterprise Record: "None Hurt In Crash on Durham-Dayton Road --- A minor intersection collision on the Durham-Dayton Road and Burdick Avenue was investigated yesterday morning by highway patrolman. Nobody was injured but patrolmen said one of the drivers would be cited for failure to yield the right of way. "Involved in the accident were George C. Hackett, 36, of Route 3, Box 97, eastbound on Burdick, and Clarence C. Temple, 70, of Durham, who was going south on the Durham-Dayton Road. "Patrolmen said Temple would be cited."
