a. Note:   Livingston, MO Cemetery Records Vol 1, 3-5 Patience Sutliff is listed as wife of Abel. No mention of a Robert Russell, second husband, married 1859. This second marriage seems a bit odd, but there is no other Patience Sutliff in Livingston, MO, that would fit this record.
  1850 census District 51, Livingston County, MO [dwelling #580]: Abel Sutliff, aged 40, farmer, bp MD; Patience aged 45, bp NJ; Peter aged 16; Prushia aged 13; Hiram aged 10 -- all born OH; Andrew J. aged 8, bp IL; and Walter aged 2, bp MO. Their daughter, Harriet is married to Thomas Cottar and living next door.
  Daughter of Abraham and Patience (Besse) Gifford. She married Abel Sutliff on 4 Aug 1822 in Morgan County, Ohio. Abel was born about 1800 in Huntington, PA, and died between 1850 and 1857 in Livingston County, MO.
  Patience and Abel remained in Morgan County, OH, after their marriage, but in the 1840 US census shows the family living in Johnson County, IL, and their son Hiram was born in that location in about 1840. By the time their youngest son, Walter, was born in 1847, the family were living in Livingston County, MO, where they continued until the mid 1850s.
  After Abel died sometime between the 1850 census and the 1856 Iowa Census (which shows Patience as a widow), Patience moved to Cedar County, IA, for a time, living next door to the family of her brother, Alexander Gifford.
  According to "Missouri Marriage Records, 1805-2002," Patience Sutliff then married Robert Russell in 1859. However, it has not been confirmed that the woman Robert married was this Patience Sutliff, whose gravestone lists her surname as Sutliff and states that she was the wife of Abel.
