  Note: It is unclear if Uncle Allen and Aunt Dora actually divorced, but they did separate prior to her death in 1943. Allen & Dora lived off of Troxel Road south of the original homestead. According to mother, Adele Coon Hackett, when they separated, Allen moved into the original family home, which was built by his grandfather, William Coon, and owned by his father Emmett Coon, located on Burdick Road. After Dora's death, her daughter Cleadys and family moved to the family home. Mother remembers working on the almond huller for Uncle Allen and Aunt Dora.
  Allen died at his mountain cabin near Butte Meadows. He died five years to the date of his brother Homer, who also died of a heart attack while out walking at his mountain cabin retreat near Butte Meadows.
  CHICO ENTERPRISE-RECORD, July 25, 1966: "Obituary Allen Thurman Coon. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home Wednesday at 11 a.m. for Allen Thurman Coon, a Durham native, who died unexpectedly Sunday morning.
  "Coon was born Nov. 3, 1893, the son of Emmett and Clara Coon, who were among the original settlers of Durham. Coon owned and operated an almond ranch at Durham. Recently he had been assisting his stepson, Harold Miller, at the Durham Pump Co.
  "He died while visiting at his summer cabin at Coon Creek near Chaparral. Mrs. Coon expressed her appreciation to U.S. Forest Service men at Chaparral for their assistance when Coon was apparently stricken with a heart attack.
  "He was a member of the Chico Lodge No. 423, BPOE.
  "Survivors include his widow, Effie of Durham; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys [sic] Poole of Chico and Teresa Coon of Durham, a stepson, Harold Miller of Durham; two grandchildren and a brother, Jess Coon, also of Durham.
  "Rev. James O. Miller will officiate at the services and interment will take place in the Chico Cemetery."

Coon born in Durham, CA November 3, 1893; Entered into Rest July 24, 1966; Services at The Brusie Funeral Home Wednesday, July 27, 1966 at 11 a.m.; Rev. James O.
