 Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schukar celebrated their Golden Wedding at their home in Water-town Tuesday, December 2. Supper was served to eighty-six guests after which the evening was spent playing games, with music and singing. The bride was dressed in a gown of brown trimmed in gold. Just after supper the groom presented his bride with a new wedding ring of a much later style than the one fifty years ago.
 All of the children were present. They are Adolph Schukar, of Sheridan, Ore.; Fred Schukar, of Amherst; Pauline Stubbs, of Ravenna; Josephine Labs, of Amherst; and Nora Oertwig, of Amherst. Others present were Mr. And Mrs. Will Ehresman and family, of Miller; Mr and Mrs. Carl Schukar and family, of Callaway; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Neth, of Callaway; Mrs. Emma Close, of Ringgold; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Labs, of Amherst; Mr and Mrs. August Sohrweid of Amherst; Mr and Mrs. Charles Adelung and family, of Amherst; Mr and Mrs. Charles Lindholm of Riverdale; Mr and Mrs Harry Lindholm and family of Watertown; Mr and Mrs. William Koeppen and family of Elmcreek; Mr and Mrs. H.  AMHERST -- A surprise party, on Sunday, in the Harmon park at Kearney, honored Mrs. Emma Schukar on her 89th birthday anniversary. A three-tiered birthday cake centered the serving table at the dinner party. Attending were Mrs. R. C. Oertwig, Mrs. Josie Labs, Mrs. Pauline Stubbs, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Oertwig and Danny, Mr. and Mrs. Will C. Mueller, Mona and Carl, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Owens, Judy and Raymond, jr., Mrs. Velma Schnacker, Delores, Dick, Gary and Lexie, Mrs. Al Barth, James, Connie and Kennie Mrs. Wayne Stubbs, Lynn and Larry, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schukar, Randy and Russell, Henry Dean Fisher, also Georgia Carol Geist, of Lincoln. Mrs. Schukar has 23 grand children and 60 great grand children.
  OBIT:
 Emma Augusta Schukar, daughter of Fred Schukar and wife Maria, was born on Aug. 15, 1860, at Mayville, Wis., from where they later moved to St. Paul, Ill. She was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church and remained faithful all the days of her life.
 On Dec. 2, 1880, she was married to Carl W. Schukar of Vandalia, Ill. To this union five children were born. Nearly 70 years ago, she with her husband and family came to Nebraska and had made Amherst her home. Her husband passed away on Aug. 4, 1938.
 She was a good Christian mother, setting an example for all in her faithful attendance in divine worship and Christian life. She was blessed with good health and strength for many years. The last 10 years she has been living with her daughters where she received loving care. For the last six months her strength began to fail, constantly getting weaker. She was spared lots of suffering; her end came on Wednesday morning when she quietly went to sleep in Jesus. She died at the age of 95 years, 8 months, 3 days.
 She leaved to mourn her departure the following five children: Mr. Adolph Schukar, Willimina, Ore., Mr. Fred Schukar, Amherst, Neb., Mrs. Pauline Stubbs, Mrs Josephine Labs, and Mrs. Nora Oertwig, all of Amherst; 23 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren; and seven great, great grandchildren; also the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Brandhorst, Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Mary Erdbruegger, Grandchain, Ill., Emil Schukar, Shobonier, Ill., Barney Schukar, St. Louis, Mo., George Schukar, Pulaski, Ill., and many relatives and friends.
  Kearney Daily Hub, Saturday, August 29, 1953; Page: 7 Amherst Woman Has 96 Living Descendants MRS. EMMA SCHUKAR When Mrs. Emma Schukar observed her 93rd birthday anniversary Aug. 15 she was honored with a dinner at the home of her daughter, Pauline Stubbs of Amherst.
 All five of her children were present. They are Adolph Schukar, Willamina, Ore.; Fred Schukar, Josle Labs, Nora Oertkig and Pauline Stubbs of Amherst.
 Others present for the dinner were Mrs. Fred Schukar, Amherst; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schukar, Callaway; Leota Tuttle, Kearney; Gus Oertwig, Purdin, Mo.; and Bob Oertwig, Amherst.
 In addition to her five sons and daughters, Mrs. Schukar has 23 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and three great-greatgrandchildren, a total of 96 living descendents.
