Vandalia News -- AGED COUNTY CHARGE DEAD
William Shukar, 96 years of age, and for twenty years an inmate at the county farm, died Sunday and was buried on Monday in the grave yard on the farm. The old man was a German and could speak and understand but very little English. The last few days of his life Mr. Henderson, the superintendent, had a German man stay with the old man with whom he could converse and thus gave him a great deal of comfort.
