Note: 1860 census, farm laborer in hshold of sister-in-law Louise Fellwock Sasse, listed as Ernst W. Sasse. William d. at the Battle of Peachtree, GA, during the Civil War. His mother's pension application states that he had never married nor had any children. He enlisted 17 Sep 1862, served as a Pvt. with Co. B 26th Wisconsin Infantry. Accompanying the papers was an affidavit by Fr. Malchow and Chr. Knospe who said they had been neighbors of the Sasses in Wis. and Ill. Willhelm Sasse , Residence: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Enlistment Date: 21 August 1862 Distinguished Service: DISTINGUISHED SERVICE Side Served: Union State Served: Wisconsin Unit Numbers: 3078 3078 Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 21 August 1862 Enlisted in Company B, 26th Infantry Regiment Wisconsin on 21 August 1862. Killed Company B, 26th Infantry Regiment Wisconsin on 20 July 1864 in Peach Tree Creek, GA Buried in Marietta, Georgia, National Cemetery, Section G, Grave 7140 Wilhelm was born in Nahausen, Kreis Koenigsberg/NeuMark, Brandenburg. He emigrated with his parents and siblings on the ship RUSSIA, and arrived in New York in Sept. 1846, and immediately went on to Dodge County, Wisconsin. He grew up there, and enlisted in Milwaukee, Wisc., Co. B 26th Inf. Reg Wis. on 21 Aug 1862. He died at the Battle of Peachtree Creek, Georgia.
