Note: Kearney Daily Hub Saturday, June 16, 1923 Page: 2 Complete Program for Promotion from Eighth Grade -- Nearly 200 Students to be Recognized District No. 31 - Gerald Haase, Viola Labs, Ethel Raymond, Marie Siebke Kearney Hub, 29 Sept. 1934 -- Labs-Mueller Wedding The Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Amherst was the scene of a simple but beautiful wedding Sunday evening, September 23 at seven o'clock, when Miss Viola Labs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Labs, became the bride of William Mueller, Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mueller, Sr., of Riverdale. The wedding march was played by Miss Wanda Labs. Wanda and Erma, sisters, and Mr. Gerhardt Labs, brother of the bride, accompanied by Prof. Ohlmann, sang "Thine Forever" and "Abide, O Dearest Jesus." The Rev. H. Inselmann officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore her mother's wedding gown of 26 year ago, a brocaded all-over lace, over light blue, with a high collar and medium length puff sleeves. The skirt was toe length in front and short train in back with organdy sash and big bow in back. The veil was made with a cap, with two ruffles crossing over the head with a lace rosette at each side, its length a little longer than the dress. The bride carried a bouquet of pink roses and white snapdragons with blue and white streamers. Mrs. Velma Schnacker was her sister's only attendant, wearing a blue crepe dress with a large cape and stand-up white organdy collar and ruffled muff. Mr. Richard Schnacker served as best man. A reception was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schukar, of Watertown, grandparents of the bride. Guests present were Prof. Ohlmann, Rev and Mrs. Inselmann and Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Norris Albright, Deloris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schnacker, Mr and Mrs. William Mueller, Sr., and Hulda, Marie and Selma, Mr and Mrs. Aug. Feyerherm, Mr & Mrs. Ralph Lammers, Rumilda, Martha, Nora, Robert, Walter and Luella, Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Lammers, Rueben and Edna, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Oertwig, Rozella, Freddie, Barbara and Bobbie, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schukar, and Bernard and Stella, Mr. William Rieckmann, Mr and Mrs. Carl Labs and Wanda, Erma and Gerhardt, and Grandpa and Grandma Schukar. The young couple will make their home on the Mueller farm north of Riverdale. Sept 28, 1989 - moved from Kearney, Nebraska, to Goldman, MO. Nov 18, 2000 - moved from Goldman, Missouri, to Lincoln, Nebraska Mar 16, 2002 - moved from apt. at 4629 Lowell, to the Lexington, assisted living home, 5550 Pioneers Blvd., Lincoln. Mar. 2011 - was moved to Milder Manor, 1750 S 20th Street. Memory care unit. After a fall in January 2012, was moved to the skilled nursing section, where she died on Feb 9. MUELLER, Viola P., 102, of Lincoln, formerly of Amherst, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Milder Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska Services: Feb. 18, Trinity Lutheran Church, Amherst Burial: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, near Amherst Mortuary: Roper & Sons, Lincoln, Nebr. Born June 27, 1909, in the family farm home built by her father north of Amherst Parents: Carl H. and Josie (Schukar) Labs Married: Sept 23, 1934, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Amherst, to William C. Mueller. He died in 1978 Survivors: daughter Mona (David) Houser, Hillsboro, MO; daughter-in-law Joyce Mueller, Lincoln; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Hazel Labs, Amherst; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends Oldest of six children, attended Greendale and Immanuel Lutheran Schools After marriage, lived on his parents' farm north of Riverdale for a few years; moved to Amherst, lived there about 40 years; helped her husband in his business; later worked in various places in Kearney, including 13 years as bookkeeper at the Farmers' Union Co-op Moved to Missouri, 1989, to be near her daughter and family; returned to her beloved Nebraska in 2000, lived near her son's family in Lincoln Activities: member of Trinity Lutheran church in Amherst, served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher and assistant organist, was active in the choir, Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League; was a 4-H leader, supported and encouraged her children in their activities; former member of the Buffalo County Historical society; was known for her beautiful flower gardens and African violets; enjoyed her daily walks and her daily Bible reading and devotions Was preceded in death by her husband; son Carl Mueller; sisters, Velma Schnacker Hallier, Wanda Owen, and Erma Axmann; brother Gerhardt, and infant brother Ruben Labs Memorials: Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst Kearney Hub, 17 February, 2012
