Note: They moved from St. Louis to Amherst after the 1904 World's Fair. Henry died from an infection following a tonsillectomy. Their farm was near Stanley, the original town from which Amherst came. 1900 - lived on Old Halls Ferry Rd. Confirmation record gives birthday as 29 Apr 1868, bp 6 May 1868 It was said that Henry was orphaned, and then adopted by an uncle in St. Louis. Kearney Daily Hub Thursday, March 20, 1913 Page: 4 - Scott -- March 17. -- Several young people of this vicinity went to Amherst Sunday to see the passenger (train) freed from the huge snow drift in which it has stick since the snowstorm. They reported it to be quite an interesing sight, being worth the trip down to it. The story is that Henry Brandhorst walked to Amherst and purchased a 50-lb bag of flour, and Annie make pancakes for the passengers stuck in the train. The train was heated, and the passengers were able to stay in the cars, but had no food.
