a. Note:   The Bakersfield Californian, June 5, 2010 Richard Wilbert Hilgendorf June 25, 1939 - May 29, 2010
 Born to Gerhard and Irene in Milwaukee, WI. Went to be with his Heavenly Father, after battling cancer. Preceded in death by brothers, Don, Dennis, Tom and sister, Jane. Richard married Joanne Ruth Voden in 1962. They accepted their call to be Lutheran Missionary teachers in Papua New Guinea until 1982. Richard moved to Colorado, developing congregations for Chicano and Indian populations. In 1987 moved to Bakersfield to be a Pastor for S.E. Asian refugees. He ministered, baptized, married, comforted and taught countless individuals about God's word. Survived by son, Matt of Bakersfield; daughter, Lesley (Back) and grandsons, Brendan and Justin Back of Australia. His congregation and many friends will truly miss this God-giving servant. His door was never closed to anyone. Service will be at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 7th, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 900 Day Ave., Bakersfield, CA. www.bakersfield.com/obits

  From Willard Burce, 2 June, 2010 -- Word has come from Matt Hilgendorf that his father, Richard (Dick), passed away in his sleep on Saturday, May 29.
 A memorial for Dick will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 900 Day Avenue, Bakersfield, CA, on Monday, June 7, at 10:00 AM. Pastor James Tyler, a fellow missionary and friend of Dick, will preside at the memorial service.
 Dick was with us in Papua New Guinea 1962-1982, serving in educational development and administration. For the last several years he has been pastor of All Nations Christian Church - Lutheran at Bakersfield, CA. Dick was afflicted with cancer for many years.
