It contains four villages, Brooklyn, West Cleveland, Brighton and Linndale, of which the former two are incorporated. Brighton is immediately south of Brooklyn.
 A new and complete gazetteer of the United States: By Thomas Baldwin, J. Thomas, published 1854. "Brighton, a small village of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, 4 miles S.W. from Cleveland, is separated by a small creek from Brooklyn village."
