Note: Selma A. Mueller Hinrichs, 89, of Columbus, formerly of Kearney and Riverdale, died Sunday March 18, 2001 at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus. Services were at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Roland A Jank officiating. Burial was at Columbus Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Concordia University in Seward or the church in Columbus. Gass Haney Funeral Home of Columbus was in charge of arrangements. She was born Aug. 14, 1911, in rural Riverdale to William and Anna Rieckmann Mueller. She attended District 55 school near Riverdale and then did baby-sitting and cared for her parents until their deaths. She worked at Woolworth's in Kearney before moved to Columbus in 1958. On Aug. 7, 1966, she married George Hinrichs in Columbus. They lived in Columbus where she worked as a sales clerk at Woolworth's for 15 years. She was a member of the church, taught Sunday school for 49 years and was past secretary for the Country Ladies Aid. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and five sisters. -- Kearney Hub, 5 April 2001 Worked as a sales clerk at the Woolworth store in Kearney until it closed. Then she and her sister Marie moved to Columbus and worked at the Woolworth store there, to get enought years for retirement.
