  John McKinlay, 78. prominent fruit farmer of Ashland township, northwest of Grant. died Thursday. He was born at Almonte, Ont., one of a family of 13 children of whom only a sister, Mrs. William Ingalls of North Dakota, survives. When Mr. McKinlay came to Michigan he first did government work in the upper peninsula. He married Miss Delia Tryon In 1882 and they had resided on the same farm ever since. Surviving are the widow and seven children,.Mrs. Grace Patterson, Mrs. Charles Eady and John Elmer MeKinlay of Ashland, Mrs. Wallace Scott' of Bridgeton, Mrs. George Dobbin of Jackson. Miss Nina McKinlay of Grand Rapids and Miss Norio McKinlay of Dearborn, besides ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He belonged to Grant Grange.
