Note: om of the day, she was not allowed out of bed after giving birth. Her lungs filled with fluid and she died. In 1984, I visited Fordyce, AR with my mother (Mary Barnes McClure) and my Great Aunt Alma (Moe) Greene. I discovered where Emily was buried. None of her granchildren or great grandchildren had ever been there before. Great Uncle Johnny Greene called a man to clear the road, so that we could get there...it's pretty far back in the woods and there had been a lot of spring storms. I was very impressed that someone would do that for us! That was the day that we discovered that "Grandma Greene" wasn't as old as she thought she was! Emily had died in 1881. Apparently Grandma Greene had lied about her age for so long that by the time that she had to prove how old she was, she had forgotten. The guess made her 2 years older. She wasn't the only one who had trouble with their age. Emily's tombstone says that she was born 3/25/1839. From census data I place her birth closer to 1842-44. There were 2 unmarked graves very near hers. I suspect that they are the graves of their young sons Jeremiah and John. Only one picture of her exists, which I have had restored with some success. It is very very faded, but it is of her and James on their wedding day. Marcia McClure
