Notes
a. Note:   The New York Herald - Aug 24, 1877 From Central New York we are informed of the occurrence, a few days since, of the death of Mrs. Anna Beers, who expired in Starkey, in this State, August 10, at the age of seventy-eight years. Her maiden name was Anna Henderickson. She was Irish descent, and was born in Mahoning, Columbia county, PA, where at an early age she married Mr. William Smith, of her native place. The fruits of this union were four children but about the year 1820 her husband died, having her struggling alone. In 1822 she came to Starkley, N.Y., at what was then Reading, Steuben county. Here she was married to Joseph Campbell, by whom she had three children. He only lived a few years, leaving her again a widow. She married her third husband, Samuel Beers, who died a number of years ago. She spent the last years of her eventual life with her friends. One of her daughters married Thomas Chambers and another George W. Barnes. The latter survives her. She had lived in what is now Yates county nearly sixty years, during which time she has seen great changes --- from the country covered with forests to fruitful fields, and from riding on horseback, guided by marked traces through the woods, as it was in many pieces when she went there, to the country dotted with railroads, and showing many other changes equally as great.
