Note: https://leaderpost.remembering.ca/obituary/dale-birley-1077425089 BIRLEY, Dale Edward Dale Edward Birley passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2019. He was born in Regina on May 6, 1952 to Marian (Ralph) Egger and William (Lois) Birley. Raised and cultivated in Saskatchewan, he turned into an avid outdoorsman with a deep passion for fishing and hunting. A product of Luther College, he went on to Gallaudet College (now Gallaudet University) in Washington, D.C. for two years before transferring to the University of Saskatchewan. Dale was a man of service, dedication and philanthropy. For more than 30 years, he offered his expertise and leadership to Saskatchewan Deaf Sports Association (SDSA), Saskatchewan Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service (SDHHS), Regina Association of the Deaf (RAD) and Canadian Sports Association (CDSA). On top of that, he worked for the government for almost 44 years with the majority of the time spent at the Medical Services Branch in the financial services unit at the T.C. Douglas Building. In 2005, the Government of Saskatchewan recognized Dale with a centennial leadership award for his outstanding contribution to the province. When Dale was not busy working, volunteering or spending time in nature, he travelled the world with his soulmate, Leona, immersing in foreign cultures and cuisine, as well as visiting family and friends. Dale will definitely be remembered for his wit and sense of humour. Dale is survived in legacy by his loving wife, Leona; his beloved children Dawn and Jodi; loving bonus children Nicole (Stephen) Carter and Justin (Krista) Ames; proud bonus grandchildren Javin and Jordan, Natalie and Ethan; dear brother Scott and his family; Lois (wife of William); and the rest of his family and friends who loved and respected him. The family would like to thank everyone at the Pasqua Palliative Care and Allan Blair Cancer Centre for being so wonderful and supportive during Dale's journey. It is also with deep appreciation we thank Angela, the Hospital Chaplain, for guiding Dale on his spiritual journey with God.A PRIVATE CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be arranged.
