  Elizabeth Jane Griswold was the daughter of Asahel Griswold and Sarah Wing of Southport, Chemung County, New York. Jane married Jonathan Palmer (or Parmer) Ames of Jackson township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Jonathan and Jane were living in Southport in 1847 when daughter Olive was born. Enumerated in Jackson township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania in 1850, beside the household of her husband's mother Hannah and his brother Elisha. Jane and her two daughters were living with her parents in the 1855 state census of Southport, enumerated as married, but Jonathan was not enumerated in the household. Jane and daughters enumerated with her parents in 1860. Jane died 14 Mar 1861 buried Pine City Cemetery. Asahel and Sally enumerated in the 1865 state census of Southport with granddaughters Olive and Alice in the household.

c. Note:   numerated in the 1855 state census in Southport, Chemung County, NewYork living with her parents, her two daughters in the household. She was enumerated as married. Thus, I suspect Jonathan was not dead at that date, but I can’t find him.
