Evalena M. Sticker's writing followed 14 Nov 1965 letter to Ruth. Do you know the story of our Gardiner Family? Stephen Griffeth married Mary Gardiner daughter of Lyon Gardiner 6th - that was Horace
Griffeths (our g.grandfather's mother and father. The Gardiners came
to America (Lion Gardiner from London, Eng. and his Dutch wife Marichjen Willemson (Holland) in 1634. The first child David Gardiner
 - born Apr 29, 1636 at Saybrook Fort, at the mouth of the Conn. River
 - which his father, Lion, built and commanded, was the first white child born of English parents on the New Eng. coast. We are descended
from him. Later they bought the island, at the tip of Long Island - still called Gardiner's Island, from the Indians. The Island is still
in possession of the family. Lion also wrote a book on the Pequit Wars of N. Eng. (We have it copied). They came with the Puritans. Lion Gardiner was a military engineer for William of Orange in Holland
before coming to America in 1634. This is a real family Thanksgiving Story. "Mary, his wife, died 2-15-1879, aged 91 yr. 3 mos. 15 da." (1777-1879) in
