Subject: Rispah Olive West
Don - I've been looking for some time for the parents of Elizabeth (Fletcher) Bailey, a great, great grandmother in my mothers line. While looking for her obituary, I was connected with a distant cousin who discovered an abstract of the administration of the will of Samuel Fletcher, the husband of Rispah Olive West and the parents of Elizabeth. The document was filed in Steuben County, NY. It shows the widow Rispah, daughters Elizabeth Bailey and Catherine Griffith and son Myron H Fletcher. I'm not sure how you and I might be "connected," but it's always good to be able to pass on information to those with common interests. I would very much like to see your research notes on the Fletchers and Wests. Can you email them to me? - I don't want you to have to copy and mail them. Maybe a brief outline and some citations will be enough.
Here is the probate document we found. It's not very clear - I don't have the know-how to make it better. Your grandmother may have found it and you may already have it. Various online entries indicate both Samuel and Rispah were born in Connecticut. However, I cannot find them in my Ricker Compliation (DVD) of the Barbour Collection. Elizabeth always reported to the census takers that she was born in Connecticut but I can't find her in Barbour either. I'm still trying to find her obituary. It was on page 3 of the 6/16/1892 issue of the Lima Recorder (Livingston Co., NY) but I've yet to find any repository that has that issue.
I'll send you an invitation to my Ancestry Sherrod Family Tree. I've made it private because it has a lot of unproven items and I don't want members (like myself) to rely on it. My line is Samuel Fletcher > Elizabeth (Fletcher) Bailey > Joel Bailey > Frank Bailey > Sylvia (Bailey) Sherrod, my mother.
How are you related to Samuel and Rispah Fletcher?

I found the address in a December, 2002 Rootsweb message board entry. Because the entry was nearly 13 years old, I really expected to receive an undeliverable message by now. Is it possible you are related to mum212?

Thank you for the image of the probate document.
Here are 5 attachments on Samuel Fletcher and notes on him and his wife Rispah. Also notes on Josiah West, father of Rispah. I put 3 generations under Samuel.
On West families, I have only Josiah West as Rispah's father and Rispah. See notes on West families.
My lines is Samuel Fletcher > Catherine Olive (Fletcher) Griffeth > Mary Rispah (Griffeth) Campbell > Alice Fitch (Campbell) Allen > Ruth Mary (Allen) Ames > Robert Ames, my father.
Ruth Mary (Allen) Ames spoke with Evalena Stricker a lot on the family tree years ago. You might like to read notes on Mary Rispah Griffeth. I am adding the attachment.
I do not know mum212. What is her name?
