That Cummings family and their children were early settlers on a farm 5 miles east of Winfield and 4 miles north of Marsh. Marsh was one of the small villages in Louisa County that has vanished with progress. At one time it had a railway station, the railroad in 1904 was called the Town Central, later sold to the M. And St. L. Railroad, later abandoned and in 1972 the tracks were removed. There was a post office there and an active Methodist Church the Cummings family attended. The Methodist church closed about 1966. Before her marriage Addie was a school teacher. Ater their marriage they made their farm home on the first farm south of his parents. Addie's husband died of pneumonia and complications following measles at the age of 55. Addie always did a lot of gardening and canning and died "of old age" aged 88. This couple are buried in the Oakland Cemetery, 7 miles west of Wapello on the Winfield-Wapello blacktop road. _________________________________________________________________ Interment Record Name: Cummings, Mary A.
