All nine children were residing in the town of Ridgebury, Bradford county, Pennsylvania at the time of their father's death on 28 May 1843. The last six were minors. His son Thomas BUCK and his brother Asahel Buck were appointed executors and wife Ruth A. Buck executrix. The farm was to go to Thomas, Aholiab, Benjamin and John. William received no bequest listed in the abstract and the daughters were to receive $175 each.
This appears to be the Capt. John Buck who married Ruth Bunce in Elmira, NY before Jan 29,1817, the date of the newspaper entry listed in the <i>10,000 Vital Records of Western New York 1809-1850, </i>p. 34<i>.</i>2 3

John Buck came to Ridgebury, PA in 1826, and his land includes the D. H. Burnham place. He was many years postmaster. Sturgis Squires came in 1827; his brother Peter had been here twelve or thirteen years.
