Note: Email from Sally (Mother) to Don Ames (Uncle) on Aug 8, 2010: This is the photo board Mom and I made for Tony's memorial. I put captions on the pictures on the attachment because it's so hard to see what photographs we used. Tom, you're in the one with Tony under the big one on the right side. Don and Teresa, you're in the picture at the bottom right. Jeanie, I couldn't find one of you and Tony in the same picture. I'm sorry. I attached a wallet size of the picture in the middle on the right.
It was a beautiful memorial service. I'll post pictures on Facebook, but do you want them by email too? I don't have names for all of Tony's friends and co-workers yet ... once posted, the guys will tag (name) them for me. Pastor Gary put the picture of Tony (in the center right) on the screen in front of the sanctuary with his name and birth & death dates. We also had Tony's cobalt blue bottles and his own photo album of him and his family on the table in the narthex with the photo board.
Mom and I have been busy sorting through all of Tony's papers and found some interesting things. I'll let you know what phone calls do to help me get some information. I have to call the car loan company so they can come get Tony's car from our house. So much to do, so many calls to make and letters to write.
I'm so glad you're there ... losing my son has made me realize we don't know how long we have, and I want to see you as often as can be. I love you all so much! I hope you know that.
I attached pictures of family too, mostly with me but that's what Mom took. None of Mom because she was the photographer. I'm sorry I didn't think to take one of her. It's been fun going through photo albums with Mom too.

Did I tell you where the memorial is? It's at my church, Prescott Valley United Methodist on 8944 E. Sommer Drive. I know Don is out of town and cannot make it... and this email is late to tell Tom if I didn't tell you before. It has been so hard, planning things, but Mom has been helpful. She and Steven have been very supportive. I just wish all my family could be here... Love you so much, Sis

I hope you can forgive me for being so late with this -- I've tried many times on more than one day to call you from Mom's so we could talk face-to-face but got no answer.
Tony died Thursday afternoon, the 5th. He was admitted to hospital on the 3rd and ICU that night; they sedated him and put him on a ventilator. The doctor told Rosetta the 4th that there was nothing they could do for him. On the 5th the family met and I was put on a conference call with them; his father had arrived in NY that morning so he and I agreed to the doctors' plan to wean him off the ventilator slowly while keeping his pain medications strong so he felt no pain while dying peacefully. It took 3 hours from beginning till he passed on to be with Jesus.
I have been staying with Steven in the mornings and with Mom while Steven slept until today -- today I decided to stay home.
His memorial is Thursday the 12th at 1 p.m. at Prescott Valley United Methodist Church. All three pastors will take part -- Pastor Galene, her father Pastor Gary, and her brother (our summer intern) Pastor Gary Gene. It will be a special service. Many of his friends are coming up from Phoenix, as are his co-workers. Friends of ours from both churches said they will come. It has been announced on Facebook's Event Page also, so I'm not sure how many will be there. Tony was well-loved.
I am so, so sorry that I didn't make a point of reaching you sooner. I should have emailed you anyway.
