Text:   WOODHULL -- Clara J. Newton, 81, Church Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 1989 in Corning Hospital. She was born June 10, 1908 in the town of Troupsburg to John and Anna Brown VanOrsdale. She was a graduate of Woodhull Academy and Deaconess School of Nursing, Buffalo. She was a retired nurse from Corning Hospital. She was a member of the Woodhull Grange and the Painted Post Eastern Star Chapter. Her husband, Ralph A. Newton, died in 1980. Surviving are: one sister, Mary Hotaling of Corning; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-newphews. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. todayin the H.P. Smith and Son Inc. Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Donald Hulbert, pastor of the Austinburg Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Woodhull Ambulance Corps.

Text:   WOODHULL -- Ralph Arthur Newton, 63, of CHurch Street, died Monday, July 14, 1980 in Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital, Elmira. He was born July 18, 1916 in marilla, the son of Ralph and Theresa Culter Newton. He was married to the former Clara Van Orsdale July 27, 1937. He was a retiree of Ingersoll-Rand Co. at Painted Post and was a member and past master of Montour Masonic Lodge 168 of Painted Post. He was also a member of Woodhull Grange. Surviving are his wife, Clara; one brother, Preston of Buffalo; one sister, Alice Davison of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the H.P. Smith and Son Funeral Home in Woodhull Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be there Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Laun, pastor of the Woodhull United Methodist and Baptist Churches, officiating. Burial will be in Woodhull Cemetery.
