Note: Letter from Lucinda Cutler Curtis to Mr Cutler March 1902 28 March 1902 Holland NYRegarding children of Sylvan CutlerFrom Lucinda Cutler to Mr CutlerDear cousin I think that you wrote father last as he sayed to me sometime ago have you answered Delos letter. And I said no as I had promised to do so and neglected it day after day and am very sorry I did for it was always a great pleasure to do any and everything father asked me to do but home cares were numeros and seamed they must be done first and the time came just too late. Father was taken sick the six day of Febuary and died Sabath morning at half past five March 9 1902 (Sylvan Cutler). Perhaps you have heard before this time through some of the other relations as Asher Cutler sayed he would write someone. He was not taken very sick at first but grew worse just a few days before he died was conscious and talked quiet freely just the day before. I miss him very much as he came in to see me every day. I live just a short distance from the old homestead and sometimes twice in a day he lived with his son Winslow he gave the old home to him and he stayed with him. He felt so bad to think Albert Cutler came to Holland last fall and went away and he could not see him. I never see my father feel so bad and take it to heart as he did that he sayed to me he thought. it would make him sick for a few days. He seemed to be real well all winter enjoyed good health and worked a good deal of the time. Father has felt for a long itme that he was a great care and he often said he wished it could be the Lord’s will he might go. I think he was willing and ready and some of the neighbors sayed well Mr Cutler I hope you will get well again he said no I don’t want to the Lord’s will not mine but it leaves me very lonely. We are a larg family but are fording the river one by one. 2 years this month my youngest sister Hattie died left a son and husband after she died he gave me the boy as mine and after a few months I married Mr Curtis (Volney Curtis) the boy’s father and my sister husband and it seemed to please my father and it makes a pleasant home for me. 8 years ago this month I buried my mother so in a short time we will all be over the river. We enjoyed cousin Park’s visit and hope he may come again. I can remember you being here on a visit several years ago and yor wife Eve lived in the old red house back in the lot. Wish you could come againfather has gone home the last of the family but I will be glad to here from you and will try and answer all letters that I may recive from absent relatives pardon my delay from your cousin Mrs Volney Curtis nee Lucinda Cutler
