The Mansfield Advertiser of December 15, 1897 states – “The late Mrs. Leonard Ames, of Jackson, was one of a class of fourteen that were baptized in February, 1832 – sixty-five years ago, of whom Russell Friends, of Jackson, is now the only survivor.” This would imply the family had removed to Jackson by February 1832. Enumerated in Jackson township in 1840 next to household of brother Orrin Ames with one male of age thirty and under age forty (b. 1801-10), one female under age 5 (b. 1836-40), one female of age five and under age ten (b. 1831-35), and one female of age thirty and under age forty (b. 1801-10).
