Continued: On her birth certificate her name is listed Elda Mary but she went by Mary Elda. Grandpa Curran (James H.) called her Elderberry. Raised in Guernsey County, on Sugar Grove Rd, Westland Twp., then in Cambridge. Elda originates from the old Hebrew name 'Eldaah' that is mentioned in the bible twice. It means, roughly translated 'he who God has called'.

Continued: Her heart finally gave out, she had 4 heart attacks, the last on Dec 3, 2001. She was moved to Ohio State University Medical Center on Dec 6. A heart catherization did not clear her blockages, so an emergency triple by-pass was performed on Dec 7. Mary would not wake up until late the next evening on Dec 8. She by that time had a stroke leaving the left side of her body unable to function normally. She tried to recoup but was just not strong enough. At her insistance, She was moved back to Cambridge for rehab from the stroke, She arrived on Friday eve., said she was just tired from the trip, and passed away on Sat morning.

Continued: A affidavit was signed by Mary Elda's parents Lawrence and Bessie Curran on July 24, 1944 in front of Judge Sam MacConkey-Judge of Probate Court , Guernsey Co., Ohio. It was to confirm that the Justice of the peace from Greenup Co., Kentucky who married Jack and Mary Wagstaff was dead and no record can be found or is obtainable. This document stated that the legal marriage took place on April 1, 1940 in Greenup Co., Kentucky.---The Curran family bible has entry of marriage for 5-3-1940. Mary shows living with her parents at age 18 in the Apr 25, 1940 census.
